Painter

Michelle MacDonald, Ucluelet BC

Watching the paint dry is what Michelle calls her little art studio in her home ‘across the bay’ from Ucluelet in Port Albion.  Michelle uses pouring paints, Pebeo Fantasy Paints, Vitrall, Moon and Prisme.  They take three days to dry and are constantly changing.  She also uses alcohol inks and acrylics and a smattering of seashells in some of her pictures.

Living in what she calls paradise for 36 years, Michelle has only just picked up a paint brush at age 57, but not a stranger to the arts she was a founding member of ‘Under the Umbrella Women’s Artists Cooperative’ in Ucluelet in the early 2000’s.  Then her medium was seashells and driftwood, stitchery and doodling.  Working with the forest around her she created living wreaths and garlands for many years selling them at local craft fairs.   An accomplished writer, journalist, poet and editor, Michelle’s first love is of words.   Michelle has edited several community cookbooks, poetry chapbooks and several of her own poetry chapbooks as well.

Michelle’s art is abstract, thought provoking, unique and very vibrant.  It makes you take a step closer for a better look.  Always experimenting with combining her mediums and methods of applying them, look forward to more original and interesting art from Michelle.
