Marnie Recker is a multi-disciplinary artist, working in photography, painting, and ceramics. She has been living in Tla-o-qui-aht territories for over two decades, where the ancient forests and open ocean have greatly inspired her life and art.
Since 2011, her photography business in Tofino has specialized in wedding and portrait photography. She believes photography is a powerful storytelling tool and she loves working with others to create time capsules of special moments. Her photography portfolio also expresses her deep appreciation of nature and wildlife.
She paints what she cannot photograph and her creative painting process is an exploration of mystical, spiritual, archetypal and earth-honouring themes.
Marnie’s interest in culture, history and social justice led her to pursue a Bachelors of Art in Anthropology from the University of British Columbia. She also holds a graduate degree in clinical art therapy from the Vancouver Art Therapy Institute and she deeply values the healing potential of the creative process.
