Crystal Crossman is a visually impaired self- taught artist from Sackville, New Brunswick Canada. Born in 1976 and raised on the East coast until 1986 when her family then decided to move across the country and found themselves on beautiful Vancouver Island, where for the last 30 years she has called home.
Her love of the arts started really when she was about 12 years old, and had always enjoyed doing art as a kid. Her older brother was an inspiration growing up, as he was quite the artist himself at a young age and encouraged her creative side.
At the age of 16, Crystal found the wonder of coloured pencils with its rich versatile, vibrant colour. Crystal has mastered this medium for over 25 years now. Crystal loves creating detail as well as contrast and composition are of great importance.
Oil paints are another favourite medium of Crystal’s and treasures them for a whole completely different reason, as she feels are the most forgiving and satisfying of all the paints.
Through all the years of learning and growing, art has taught Crystal to be patient, to be at peace, to let go and enjoy every moment fully. Crystal’s belief is that art is very therapeutic and can brighten up someone’s day. Crystal feels that if she can share some of that passion even just a little then she has experienced the true essence of being an artist.
